  • Sr. Electrical Engineer: Avionics Systems

    We are currently seeking Sr. Electrical Engineer with broad experience to join the embedded systems group. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with Senior Systems and Software engineers and will own hardware development of subsystems from inception to deployment. Should be able to contribute broadly but will be primarily responsible for hardware development.

    Required:

          • Experience with design and implementation of advanced electronics
          • Comfortable with all aspects of electronics design including
       - Analog Sensor Interfaces
       - Power Supply Design
       - Microprocessor/MCU Integration
       - Digital Design (1MHz to 200MHz)
       - Digital Peripheral Selection and Integration (ADC, Memories, UART, etc.)
          • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5 or more years of applicable experience
          • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly interactive startup environment
          • Must be hands-on and able to work independently with minimum supervision
          • Good understanding of serial bus interfaces  like RS-422, RS-485, CAN, RS-232, SPI, I2C
          • Good understanding of EMI, RFI, ESD, transient suppression and I/O protection schemes

    Desired:

          • Experience with relatively complex embedded systems design, implementation and testing
          • Experience with sensors and sensor interfacing techniques (filters, A/D interfacing, etc)
          • Some experience with electromechanical drivers
          • Robust power supply design
          • DO-160, DO-254 compliance testing experience very desirable
          • Ability to write test code in C for board verification and on-board diagnostics valuable
          • Experience with ALTIUM schematic capture and layout tools

  • Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer

    We are seeking a hands-on composites Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer to join our team developing an electric aircraft. This position will participate in conceptualization, design, drawing production, sourcing, and manufacture of tooling, structural composite parts and support equipment. A strong mix of composites design and manufacturing skills and experience is required (laminate drawings, lay-up procedures, manufacturing documentation, etc.). The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience with a wide variety of aerospace composite tooling materials and manufacturing methodologies, including autoclave and OOA processes, vacuum bagging, bladder molding, compression molding and lost mandrel molding.

    Required:

          • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience
          • 3 to 5 years of 3D CAD experience, including surfacing. SolidWorks experience a plus

          • Knowledge of materials and processes to support build schedule and ensure part quality
          • 
Proficiency with low rate production structural composites tooling design and manufacture (epoxy board, composite and metallic)

          • Experience with secondary bonding theory and methods, and the design and construction of assembly and bonding fixtures

          • Ability to develop, read and comprehend drawings, and experience with ASME Y14.5

    We are currently seeking an avionics technician with experience assembling, integrating, and testing avionics, to join our software and avionics group. The position will require work on components such as flight computers, control systems, servo actuators, displays, transceivers, power supplies, wire harnesses, test fixtures, etc. The candidate must be able to build, install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical assemblies using industry standard methods, while maintaining records and logs.



    Required

          • Minimum of a high school diploma with three or more years experience as a technician or aviation mechanic installing aircraft electronics and systems
          • Working knowledge of basic electronics
          • Must be able to work from drawings with minimal guidance
          • Strong soldering and mechanical assembly skills
          • Understanding and use of basic electronics tools (Oscilloscope, DMM, crimpers, basic shop equipment, etc)
          • Strong background in troubleshooting and repair of wiring and avionics systems
          • Able to select and manage parts from a BOM, assemble boards and test
          • Good communication, problem solving and organizational skills
          • Working knowledge of basic computer applications

    Desired:

          • Electronics Associate degree, military training or above
          • Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent schematic/drawing tools
          • Experience with electromechanical systems and sensors (servos, motors, shaft encoders)

    We are currently seeking talented driven engineers to join our team responsible for aircraft testing. We have both junior and senior roles open. These engineers work closely with avionics, electric propulsion, structural, aerodynamics, and controls engineers to support testing of sub and full-scale aircraft, and their subsystems. Additional responsibilities include test plan and test card writing, data analysis and documentation, on-aircraft troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and software issues, and real-time monitoring of data during flight tests.  They also design, build, and operate test setups to support developmental and qualification testing of subsystems. 

    Required:

          • Bachelor's or advanced degree in applicable engineering field, or equivalent
          • 5+ years experience manned flight testing, preferably in a prototyping environment (Sr. role only)
          • Proficiency in data analysis with MATLAB, Python, or other scripting tools

          • Hands-on project experience

          • Ability to work closely with engineers and other test personnel to design and execute complex tests on fast-paced schedules


    Desired: 

          • Expertise in aerodynamics or controls (Sr. role only)
          • Experience flight testing manned or unmanned vehicles

          • Experience with sensors and data acquisition, including selection, installation, and calibration

          • Private Pilot License
          • Model (R/C) airplane pilot

          • Commercial Pilot License, multi-engine land, rotorcraft-helicopter (or powered-lift)
          • Test Pilot School graduate (NTPS, USNTPS, USAFTPS, ETPS, EPNER or equivalent)
          • 3+ years experience as a developmental test pilot
          • Ability to work closely with engineers and other test personnel to design and execute complex, high-risk flight testing on fast-paced schedules

    Desired:

          • Experience flight testing aircraft with augmented, fly-by-wire flight control systems
          • Experience managing high-risk flight test activities
