  • Sr. Electrical Engineer: Avionics Systems

    We are currently seeking Sr. Electrical Engineer with broad experience to join the embedded systems group. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with Senior Systems and Software engineers and will own hardware development of subsystems from inception to deployment. Should be able to contribute broadly but will be primarily responsible for hardware development.

    Required:

          • Experience with design and implementation of advanced electronics
          • Comfortable with all aspects of electronics design including
       - Analog Sensor Interfaces
       - Power Supply Design
       - Microprocessor/MCU Integration
       - Digital Design (1MHz to 200MHz)
       - Digital Peripheral Selection and Integration (ADC, Memories, UART, etc.)
          • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5 or more years of applicable experience
          • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly interactive startup environment
          • Must be hands-on and able to work independently with minimum supervision
          • Good understanding of serial bus interfaces  like RS-422, RS-485, CAN, RS-232, SPI, I2C
          • Good understanding of EMI, RFI, ESD, transient suppression and I/O protection schemes

    Desired:

          • Experience with relatively complex embedded systems design, implementation and testing
          • Experience with sensors and sensor interfacing techniques (filters, A/D interfacing, etc)
          • Some experience with electromechanical drivers
          • Robust power supply design
          • DO-160, DO-254 compliance testing experience very desirable
          • Ability to write test code in C for board verification and on-board diagnostics valuable
          • Experience with ALTIUM schematic capture and layout tools

  • Mechanical Technician: Power and Propulsion

    We are currently seeking a technician with experience assembling, integrating, and testing electromechanical and electromagnetic systems, to join our Power and Propulsion group. The position will require work on components such as complex magnet assemblies, electric motor windings, power inductor winding, wire harnesses, test fixtures, etc. The candidate must be able to build, install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical assemblies using industry standard methods, while maintaining records and logs.


    Required:

          • Five or more years experience as a technician assembling electromechanical mechanisms and/or power electronic assemblies is required
          • Must be able to work from procedures and drawings with minimal guidance
          • Strong soldering and mechanical assembly skills
          • Must be precise with good attention to detail
          • Understanding and use of basic electronics tools (Oscilloscope, DMM, crimpers, basic shop equipment, etc)
          • Strong background in troubleshooting and repair of wiring and avionics systems
          • Able to select and manage parts from a BOM, assemble boards and test
          • Good communication, problem solving and organizational skills
          • Working knowledge of basic computer applications and basic electronics

    Desired:

          • Electronics Associate degree, military training or above
          • Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent schematic/drawing tools
          • Experience with electromechanical systems and sensors (servos, motors, shaft encoders)

    We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our small team developing components of an electric aircraft. These components include lift fans and propellers driven by electric motors, power electronics cooling systems and enclosures, and more. The candidate will participate in concept development, design, structural analysis, drawing creation, documentation, assembly and component level test.  Weight minimization and structural optimization are critical to this role.

    Required:

          • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
          • 1+ years of relevant work experience
          • Experience with 3D modeling using Solidworks or an equivalent CAD system
          • Ability to analyze and optimize for weight reduction
          • Experience performing structural or thermal finite element analysis
          • Enthusiasm and desire to design a large quantity of high performance hardware
          • Demonstrated ability to go from concept to hardware in minimal time

    Desired:

          • Strong interest in aviation
          • Knowledge of aerospace development best practices and standards
          • Familiarity with MATLAB or equivalent analysis tool
          • Experience with detailed design and development of lightweight electro-mechanical systems, mechanisms, actuators, etc.

  • Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer

    We are seeking a hands-on composites Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer to join our team developing an electric aircraft. This position will participate in conceptualization, design, drawing production, sourcing, and manufacture of tooling, structural composite parts and support equipment. A strong mix of composites design and manufacturing skills and experience is required (laminate drawings, lay-up procedures, manufacturing documentation, etc.). The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience with a wide variety of aerospace composite tooling materials and manufacturing methodologies, including autoclave and OOA processes, vacuum bagging, bladder molding, compression molding and lost mandrel molding.

    Required:

          • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience
          • 3 to 5 years of 3D CAD experience, including surfacing. SolidWorks experience a plus

          • Knowledge of materials and processes to support build schedule and ensure part quality
          • 
Proficiency with low rate production structural composites tooling design and manufacture (epoxy board, composite and metallic)

          • Experience with secondary bonding theory and methods, and the design and construction of assembly and bonding fixtures

          • Ability to develop, read and comprehend drawings, and experience with ASME Y14.5
          • 
Passion for design excellence

          • Enthusiasm and desire for work in a hands-on, fast paced R&D environment
